Prince of Wales Junior Judo
Canterbury Judokwai is pleased to announce the return of a junior judo session with support from the Prince Of Wales Youth Club. In recognition of this, the junior session is known as Prince Of Wales Junior Judo, but is still part of the Canterbury Judokwai and takes place in the same dojo. Two new coaches also join our roster; you can find out about them here. They are both competitive judo players and experienced coaches, teaching players of all ages and skill levels.
We are excited to share this brilliant sport with young people!
Sessions are Wednesdays 6pm–7pm
If your child doesn’t have their own judo suit, then they should wear loose clothing (e.g. tracksuit bottoms and t-shirt) and hopefully we’ll have a spare suit that fits them.
The sessions cost £4 per child. The Prince Of Wales Youth Club can provide finanical aid for those that need it, so please get in touch even if the cost is a concern. Payment can be made online in advance (please contact us for the details) or in cash on the day.
We are doing are best to keep everyone safe; see our safe return to judo page.
How to join us
To join us, there is a bit of paperwork to do first. If possible, please do this in advance and either send it to us at firstname.lastname@example.org or bring it with you. We’d like to reduce the amount of in-person paperwork we need to do, but we will have some blank forms available on the day.
- British Judo membership
Posession of a current membership is an insurance requirement for joining our sessions.
- If your child has had a membership before, please make sure it is still current (British Judo extended memberships during lockdown), and otherwise renew it.
- If you have never held British Judo membership, a free three-month introductory membership is available. See the British Judo site for the membership offers.
Prince of Wales Judo club membership
Our club registration form is available here (DOCX). Note that club membership is currently free! We plan to re-introduce membership fees in September. To see what we do with your data, see our Privacy Notice here (DOCX).
- Indemnity Form
Complete the British Judo Athlete Indemnity Form available here (PDF) (one form to be completed for each participant).
If you have any technical issues completing the forms electronically, you may simply include all the required information in an email. (Please be sure to include your British Judo membership number and expiry date.)
Before leaving home for the dojo
Please ensure your child:

- Has changed into their judo kit. [The kit should be washed between each session.]
